WebThe WH1000XM4 are IPX4 rated. Not the best protection, but they are splash resistant. For what it's worth, I have the WH1000XM3 and I have had sweated with them multiple times, and been caught in the rain on my tractor (no cabin) multiple times with no issues at all. It's why I haven't upgraded to the XM4s yet. I haven't needed to. WebThe plastic used retains a lot of fingerprints, grease , oils etc. so it makes the headphone quite dirty quickly, more than with the XM4. Mine did the same and I found an article by Sony saying it’s due to condensation build up on the sensor. It advises you to leave them open with the sensor facing up to dry out. I ran a hairdryer with the cold setting over it, which fixed it. Not a great design really, if it stops working so easily. 😟.
