The castle has been owned by some of the most important noble families in Denmark. Currently, it is owned by the Bille family. Surrounding the castle are several gardens. WebRoskilde Cathedral is situated in the medieval part of the city and is probably one of the first major buildings on the spot. The yellow buildings around the Cathedral is the former Royal Palace from 1733-76 - and called Roskilde Palace. The Palace was used as a stop-over by royal families during Royal Burials.
